BIAV To Honor the Robinows at January 28 Purim Gala
Carol Katzman, chairman of the 20th annual Purim Gala, announced that the 2018 Gala will be honoring Dr. Jay and Marjorie Robinow with the Mordechai Award. The Gala will be held on Sunday, January 28 and is the annual fundraiser for Congregation Beth Israel Abraham & Voliner.
“I cannot think of more fitting recipients for the Award than Margie and Jay,” said Katzman. “As Mordechai, the protagonist in the Book of Esther, sought the welfare of his people, the Robinows have contributed to BIAV and the community in innumerable ways. In addition, Mordechai courageously stepped forward to save the Jewish people when their existence was threatened. Similarly, the Robinows have never hesitated to step forward on larger issues, such as spearheading the Anti-BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel) legislation in the Kansas Legislature.”
This fun-filled event will be at the new Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center at 8788 Metcalf Avenue, starting at 5 p.m with cocktails, a silent auction, and a tour of the Johnson County Museum, which is now located in the Center. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Past award recipients include: Rabbi Morey Schwartz, 1998; A. Robert Gast, 1999; Neil and Blanche Sosland, 2000; Merilyn Berenbom, 2001; Jerry and Lisa Bernard, 2002; Bernard H.
