Rabbi Yitzchak Mizrahi, Interim Rabbi
Rabbi Yitzchak Mizrahi currently serves as the interim rabbi at BIAV while the congregation conducts its year-long rabbinic search in conjunction with the Center for the Jewish Future.
Rabbi Mizrahi was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and made Aliyah with his family as an adolescent. After studying in Yeshivot for a decade, and subsequently serving in the Israel Defense Force, Rabbi Mizrahi attended the Ohr Lagolah rabbinic training program offered by Ohr Somayach. He received semicha in 2007. Following several years as an associate rabbi in Omaha, Nebraska, Rabbi Mizrahi and his family moved to New Zealand to serve the Jewish community in Wellington. In 2018 the Mizrahi family relocated to Overland Park, where Rabbi Mizrahi directs the Vaad HaKashruth of Kansas City. In July 2019, he also took on the role of interim rabbi at BIAV.
Rabbi Aron Rubin grew up in Melbourne, Australia, where he attended high school at Leibler Yavneh College. He spent two years studying in Yeshivat Har Etzion and returned to Melbourne where he earned a double degree Bachelor of Food Science and Bachelor of Engineering at RMIT University. After completing his degree in Australia, Rabbi Rubin moved to New York where he studied for Semicha at Yeshiva University. He held Rabbinic internships in the Roslyn Synagogue and Great Neck Synagogue on Long Island. He was also a middle school teacher at Westchester Torah Academy (WTA) in New Rochelle, New York.
Rabbi Rubin is passionate about teaching Torah and communal involvement. He is married to Leia Rubin (Wachsstock) from St. Louis, and they have a son, Eitan. In August 2019, Rabbi Rubin and his family moved to Overland Park to run the community Kollel and teach at Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy. Rabbi Rubin is also sharing some of the Rabbinic responsibilities at BIAV.
