JOB SUMMARY
Executive Director sought to oversee operations and assist Rabbi of a 130+ family member modern orthodox synagogue in Overland Park, KS. Congregation B.I.A.V. strives to be a welcoming, caring and spirited Orthodox congregation that enables and inspires our members, our children and all Jews to deepen their commitment to live, learn and love Torah, applying it to everyday living in the modern world.
The overall responsibility of the Executive Director is to represent BIAV in a positive, responsible manner. The Executive Director responds to the general public, the Jewish community and our membership. This requires tact, the ability to handle stress and the wisdom to retain confidential information.
The Executive Director is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all of the administrative and financial policies of the board of directors, the financial, accounting and membership reporting systems as well as day-to-day operations of the office and building facilities.
As with all administrative positions, it is to be expected that the position will change as BIAV changes. The Executive Director shall play a large role in orchestrating those changes.
Qualifications
- Must have experience in accounting and bookkeeping
- Previous synagogue administration or non-profit office experience preferred
- Working knowledge of office computer software
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to self motivate and work well with volunteers
- Drive to innovate and think creatively
